It was November 11, 2010, Veteran's Day in the US and Remembrance Day in Canada. I never knew it was called that, but being half Canadian I like knowing those little facts. What was most interesting to me were all the people wearing those little plastic red flowers with a black center.
I was very touched that so many people in Canada unassumingly wear them as they go about their day. I was on the train from Montreal to Toronto and we stopped at Kingston, Ontario. Out my window I didn't see the station platform, it must have been on the other side, just a field with a man standing by himself, wearing the flower.
